If you’re using your phone to track steps, make sure your phone is always with you when you walk or run!
Please note that the “Steps” feature is compatible with iPhone models 5S and higher. The iPhone 5, 5C, 4S and earlier do not have built-in accelerometer capability, and as a result, we do not support these devices without a Fitbit. You can still earn rewards by participating in our other offers (e.g. referring friends and completing quizzes).
Tracking steps with Apple Health
To track steps with your iPhone, Carrot relies on the Apple Health app which is preinstalled on all iPhones that are compatible with Carrot. In your Carrot app, go to the “Account” tab and select "Manage Devices" and then select “iPhone”. You may need to authorize Carrot Rewards to access your step data in Apple Health. If you mistakenly refused this access, you can enable it again by going into your phone settings, selecting “Privacy”, and then “Health”. Select “Carrot” and toggle the setting so that it is on. Go back to your iPhone settings, and in the “Privacy” section, select “Motion and Fitness” and enable “Fitness Tracking” and “Health”. If you don't see Carrot as an option, please delete and reinstall Carrot.
Tracking Steps with Apple Watch
In order to track your steps with Apple Watch, please see the section above about tracking steps with the Apple health app. In addition to this, you’ll need to connect your Apple Watch with Apple Health by going into Apple Health, and into the “Sources” tab. Select your Apple Watch as the source for your step count information. Carrot will retrieve your step information that your Apple Watch sends to Apple Health.
